Greta Garbo was a friend of Krishnamurti’s during the 1930s and 1940s. She would often make the trip to Ojai to attend his talks and visit with him. There was one well-documented picnic in Los Angeles with Krishnamurti, Garbo, Charlie Chaplin, Aldous Huxley, Christopher Isherwood, and Bertrand Russell. Isherwood recounted that it was difficult to tell who was more shy--Krishnamurti or Garbo.
